Lori Griffiths’ entry to the Adafruit/element14 Hats Off Challenge is this enchanting Mardi Gras mask!
Well, we’ve reached the end of the Hats Off adventure. My Mardi Gras hat is complete and working great. Wayne was kind enough to model it for me, so that I could shoot the final video.
I have to say that there is little in life more rewarding than doing things for yourself. To create something from nothing but a photo as inspiration, is a challenge with great rewards. I had never used electronics before and I had a blast working with them. I’ve already got three more projects in my head to bring to life. I had never done paper mache before either, but I’m so glad I had the opportunity with this project. I’ll be incorporating that skill into my creative arsenal.
If you’ve always wanted to sew, do paper mache or work with electronics, now is a great time to start. If you want to give this a go, here’s all the patterns and documentation on the Element 14 blog.
Please let me know what you think of the finished hat.
Thank you to Adafruit and Element 14. I had a lot of fun with this challenge!
