Preliminary demonstration of results from a homemade GPS Datalogger w/ environmental sensors.
Arduino Leonardo, Adafruit Ultimate GPS Shield, a few Adafruit Trinkets, a CO sensor, microphone, dust sensor, and a ton of coding….
I attached the sensor box to the roof of my car w/ the GPS antenna, put an SD card in the logger, and drove around downtown Chicago for about 80 minutes collecting data.
I combined those results with real-time traffic congestion data downloaded from data.cityofchicago.org inside ArcGIS, tweaked the presentation with ArcScene, and came up with this short video….
With Arduino UNO & this setup, I can now:
- get sensor values from the Trinkets and GPS shield
- log the sensor data to the SD card
- log the GPS data to the SD card
- not do all of the above within the same sketch
Pretty sure I’m running out of SRAM. If I’m correct, I’m about .5k short of what I need.
So….on my way to buy an overpriced Leonardo (from local store) to swap in.
